About Me
Welcome to Port Tunes: The Journey of a Lifetime
For over 44 years, my life has been defined by two constants: my wife, Kathy, and a quiet, burning passion for songwriting. Today, I am honored to share that this lifelong project has finally found its voice.
Under the artist name PORT, I have released a 22-song compilation across two albums: "Any Port In A Storm I" and "Any Port In A Storm II."
A Decades-Long Craft
This collection isn't just music; it’s a timeline of my life. With lyrics dating back to 1992, these songs have lived in notebooks and in my head for years. While I utilized modern digital recording and AI assistance for the musical arrangements and production, I am proud to say that all lyrics and 90% of the music were written solely by me.
AI was a tool to bring my vision to life—a production partner that helped me achieve the professional sound these stories deserved—but the heart, soul, and words are 100% human.
The Inspiration
The push to move from the notebook to the streaming platforms came from the two most influential people in my creative life:

Kathy: My partner of 44 years. Her steadfast encouragement and belief that my talent deserved a wider audience fueled my drive to complete this project.

Ronnie: My late best friend, who passed away in 2025. Ronnie was my greatest critic and cheerleader, often telling me my work was "radio worthy." The name PORT is a tribute to him, and these albums are dedicated to his memory.
The Stories Behind the Songs
I’ve always believed that if a song doesn’t tell a story, it isn’t finished. My music spans Country, Blues, Rock, and Smooth Jazz, inspired by the world around me:

"Jamaica" (1992): Penned while sitting on the sand, capturing the rhythm of the waves.

"Helplessly Homeless" (1994): Inspired by a woman I met in Austin, Texas. Ronnie always called this one "The Bag Lady Song."

"Straight Tequila": Born from a witty remark Kathy made on a flight home from Las Vegas.

"Vegas" (2025): A fresh track inspired by our recent travels this year.

"On The River": A tribute to a friend’s journey of returning home to follow his heart.
